    Health Insurance (HI) Module
    (Study Text: 6th Edition)

    For Whom
    All life and general insurance intermediaries and company staff members who are involved in advising and / or selling any Health Insurance products including:

  • Medical Expense Insurance
  • Disability Income Insurance
  • Long-Term Care Insurance
  • Critical Illness Insurance
  • Managed Healthcare Insurance
  • Those who provide advice on and / or arrange contracts of insurance in respect of the Health Insurance products that contain only critical illness benefits and / or hospital income benefits are not required to comply with such requirement, provided that they have obtained passes in the Certification in General Insurance - Basic Insurance Concepts & Principles and Personal General Insurance, or Capital Markets & Financial Advisory Services (CMFAS) Module 9: Life Insurance and Investment-Linked Policies.

    To ensure insurance intermediaries and company staff members who are involved in advising and / or selling Health Insurance products have the requisite knowledge of the healthcare environment in Singapore, as well as the various types of Health Insurance products in the insurance market.

    50 multiple-choice questions.

    1 hour 15 minutes.

    Minimum Passing Grade & Result Slip
    One mark will be awarded for each correct answer. No mark will be awarded or deducted for any wrong or blank answer.

    No certificate will be issued. Only Result Slip will be issued.

    Study Materials / Supplementary Notes
    A Study Text will be given to the candidate taking the examination for the first time to assist in the examination preparation. The candidate is solely responsible for obtaining the correct edition of the Study Text and the latest supplementary notes, etc, where applicable. The HI Study Text (Hardcopy version) consists of 285 pages (excluding Supplementary Notes) whereas the HI E-Book consists of 287 pages (with Supplementary Notes incorporated).

    Please note that Supplementary Notes (if any) which update the Study Text are testable materials applicable to the relevant examination.

    Please note that the candidate can collect the Study Text (if applicable) only when the necessary correct payment (if applicable) has been made to SCI.

    Examination Mode
    English Medium - Computer Screen Examination (CSE)

    The candidate can self-study for the closed book examination.

    Examination Frequency & Schedule
    The examination in English (CSE) is conducted daily on weekday.

    Candidates representing the life insurance companies may refer directly to their respective Training Department for the Examination Schedule. For other candidates, please refer to the Examination Registration in SCI Website

    Examination Resitting
    There is no limit on the number of times that a candidate can sit for an examination. However, he or she will not be permitted to sit for any examination if he or she has either passed or been exempted from it.

    Candidates who represent Life Insurance Companies will have to register using their respective company's user ID / password. Please check directly with your respective Agency / Training Department for the registration details.

    Candidates who represent only General Insurance Companies, Banks / Securities Houses, Insurance Broking Firms and Financial Advisers and others can register online via SCI Website.

    CPD Hours
    Upon passing the examination for this module, you are entitled to 1.25 CPD Hours.

    Programme Changes
    SCI solely reserves the right whether or not to accept any candidate, or to make any changes (including the fees) owing to any unforeseen circumstances, or when it considers necessary or appropriate to do so.
