As the premier insurance industry-training provider in Singapore, the Singapore College of Insurance (SCI) organises a series of courses, seminars and workshops under its P2 (Practice-Oriented Programmes) and R2 (Regional Routes) product icons, which are pitched at all levels, from Introductory to Advanced, to meet the Continuing Professional Development needs of insurance industry practitioners with varying levels of experience and background from markets across the region.
The SCI also conducts a range of Certifiable Skills Courses under its C2 (or Certification and Competencies) product icon for the insurance industry's front-end operatives in the life, health and general insurance, broking, as well as for financial advisory services industry. The C2 suite of programmes is designed to provide insurance and financial services practitioners with certifications to satisfy regulatory and industry competency requirements.
In addition, the SCI conducts and awards its own Certificate and Diploma programmes in life and general insurance, as well as other internationally renowned Professional Designation Programmes in insurance and related financial services under its E2 (or Executive Excellence) product icon.
To cater to the industry's growing manpower needs, the SCI also offers a series of talent development programmes, including the Insurance Management Associate Programme (iMAP); the Insurance Executive Scholarship - Professional Conversion Programme (IESP-PCP); the Insurance Executive Assistant Programme (iEAP); as well as other talent initiatives in the pipeline.
The SCI also offers the CTS (or Corporate Training Solutions) product icon, which leverages on the SCI's core competency in organising training and education programmes, as well as its wide pool of qualified and experienced industry trainers to custom-tailor programmes that specifically address the learning needs of its insurance industry clients from all across Asia.
To complement its suite of Certificate, Diploma and Professional qualification programmes, the SCI also publishes a wide range of life and general insurance and financial planning textbooks, to address the evolving education and training needs of the industry.
Among the accolades that the SCI has earned is the inaugural Educational Service Provider of the Year Award at the Asia Insurance Industry Awards on 6 October 1997, which recognised the SCI's "extensive use of information technology and its track record in training not just Singapore-based insurance professionals but also executives from the region".
On 1 October 2001, the SCI was again voted the Asia Insurance Industry Educational Service Provider of the Year in recognition of its "intensive online coursewares and effective online communication facilities allowing 24/7/365 services and consistent training, its innovative proactive responses to changing needs of the marketplace, as well as its value-added customised training courses for its corporate clients".
"Saluted for its innovation and market leadership activities", the SCI again clinched the prestigious Educational Service Provider of the Year Award on 5 November 2007 for the third time. The SCI was also recognised for its market leadership role as it was instrumental in garnering the support of nine industry stakeholders, including the associations representing the banks, life insurers, brokers, advisers and other professionals to adopt and implement the ISO 22222 International Standard for Personal Financial Planning in Singapore, the first country in the world to do so.
At the 20th Asia Insurance Industry Awards 2016 held in Macau on 11 October 2016, the SCI again clinched the prestigious Educational Service Provider of the Year Award for the fourth time. There are judging criteria to meet the stringent requirements for this Award of Honour. As stated in the Asia Insurance Review, The Winners Magazine, "SCI's programmes cater to senior managers and support staff, attracting young talent to the industry with a high retention rate. Its qualifications are recognised by respected insurance and financial service training institutions, including CII and ANZIIF. In addition, its exchange programmes, many well-attended specialist workshops and ASEAN managerial schools meet the training needs of the Asian insurance industry."
At the 22nd Asia Insurance Industry Awards 2018 held in Singapore on 29 October 2018, SCI once again clinched the prestigious Educational Service Provider of the Year Award for the fifth time. This time, SCI was recognised “for continuing to meet the training needs of both the local and regional market through its specialist programmes and wide adoption of technology which increases both interaction and efficiency in learning".
